The Evangelism Profile Tool

Your mission field is already in your life.

The people you hope will one day know Christ are often already in your contacts, at your workplace, across the street, around your dinner table, or beside you at your kids' activities.

People are not projects. The profile exists to help you remember, pray, listen, and follow up with greater care—not to “work” someone toward a result.
Why this tool exists

Good conversations are easy to lose.

A friend raises a question. A coworker mentions a painful experience. A family member makes a comment about faith. Then life moves on. A few thoughtful notes can help you remember what mattered when another opportunity comes.

The profile

A field notebook for the people you care about.

You do not need to fill out everything. The categories simply help you notice what may matter over time.

01

Basic Information

Name, relationship, how often you interact, and the context in which you know them.

02

Background

Important experiences, relationships, losses, church background, or life circumstances that may shape how they see the world.

03

Beliefs & Worldview

What they seem to believe about God, Christianity, truth, morality, science, meaning, or purpose.

04

Questions & Objections

Recurring issues such as suffering, biblical reliability, science and faith, hypocrisy, or religious pluralism.

05

Important Conversations

Short notes on meaningful discussions so future conversations can build on what has already happened.

06

Resources Shared

Videos, podcasts, articles, books, or ideas you have already passed along.

07

Prayer Notes

Specific ways you can pray for this person, their circumstances, and future opportunities.

08

Next Seed to Plant

The next natural step: ask a question, revisit a topic, share a resource, invite them somewhere, or simply continue building the relationship.

Example profile

Continuity, not documentation for its own sake.

The profile does not need to read like a report. Short notes are enough to help you remember the person, the conversation, and the next faithful step.

Two people can raise the same objection for very different reasons. Remembering the person helps you respond to more than an argument.

How it works

A small habit that supports the long game.

Notice

Pay attention to meaningful comments, questions, struggles, and spiritual openings.

Record

Later, jot down only what will help you remember and engage thoughtfully.

Pray

Use what you know to pray specifically for the person rather than abstractly.

Take the next step

Follow up, share a resource, ask another question, or simply continue the relationship.

Use the template

Keep it simple. Make it yours.

Use the profile however it works best for you—on paper, in a document, or in your own notes system. Your personal information stays with you; GARDEN does not need to store it.

Start small

Begin with one person.

You do not need profiles for everyone you know. Choose one person you already care about. Pray for them. Pay attention. Write down what matters. Then take the next faithful step when the opportunity comes.
